Creating frames overcomes the adoption problem
Is it possible, outside the realm of fiction, to put an idea in someone’s mind in such a way as to make them think it’s their own? Dorst suggests one approach is to indirectly create frames by suggesting the vague hints of the frame, shaping the conversation such that they arrive at the intended frame of their own accord. The designer thus
suggests a frame by encouraging the others to arrive at the same frame idea themselves. Through these vague hints of a frame, the designer bypasses the adoption problem…[1]
