Growing your people cultivates identity and growth mindset

In order for changes in behavior to take firm root in a group, it is necessary to cultivate a new identity that drives behavior intrinsically and instill a growth mindset. In the identity model of decision-making, “we essentially ask ourselves three questions when we have a decision to make: Who am I? What kind of situation is this? What would someone like me do in this situation?”[1]

The growth mindset instills in the group the understanding that the skills and abilities they possess are not fixed, but can be developed and increased. It reframes failure as learning which removes the paralyzing fear of failure but turning it into an essential and welcome part of the change process.
